I arrived in the Hotel and was so excited about the immaculate surroundings. From the looks of things this was the right choice. Little did I know that excitement was soon to dissipate. I checked in at the counter and received my room number. I then asked if someone could give me details behind the HOB package? It took 10 minutes for them to find out what package I was talking about. Then I was told that I would have to go to the House of Blues Ticket Booth to figure out what the details of the package were. I also asked if they had a shuttle to other Harrah’s properties and was told yes if I was a Total Rewards Member and that I had to go down the hallway for that info. Wow, I thought to myself as I excused myself from the line, this front desk has no real information about anything. So next I went to the Total Rewards Desk where I received the most wonderful treatment and probably the best thing I found in the Hotel were these folks who were led by a young man named Hymid (sp). These folks were so friendly, courteous and helpful that I almost forgot about the bad experience I had at the front desk. Another thanks goes out to the staff at the Total Rewards Desk. As I finished with my business there this staff even took the time to direct me to where the HOB ticket booth was located which was more than the front desk staff made time to do and it appeared to me that they were no busier than the Total Rewards staff. I arrive at the HOB ticket booth and I wait in line to get my tickets when I was called to be helped I asked the attendant about my tickets to the next nights show that I had purchased with a package, He asked “Oh you purchased a Hotel package”? I replied “Yes” He said “You will have to come back tomorrow. Next!!!”. I never had an opportunity to ask about the detail of the package but that was okay with me because I would be back tomorrow and I will ask then. So then it was off to my room to start my mini vacation. When I arrived at my room (which I got directions to by the Total Rewards Staff) I open the door and found that that when trying to close it, the door sticks and you have to push it shut. I push the door shut and drop my luggage, and go to put some fruit and sparkling cider into the refrigerator and it is filthy inside. I now know I have to keep my wife from seeing this or she is going to be upset and I did not want anything to ruin her anniversary. So I clean it out as she went to the restroom with my handkerchief. I then went out to find the housekeeping staff and told her the refrigerator was dirty and she said she would get right on it (to date I have not seen this woman again). Now it is my turn to go to the bathroom. I go inside the bathroom to look around and I lookdown at the pretty setting for lotion and shampoo. I am impressed except the lotion and shampoo are used. This looks real bad for the Harrah’s Corporation. I just start laughing out loud and my wife asks “what so funny dear?” I just laugh some more and tell her how happy I am to be here with her and proceed to hide the containers. I refuse to let her get upset. We then go to catch the shuttle (Which the Total Reward Staff told me where to catch it) to go back to Bally’s to their buffet (Which the Total Reward Staff recommended).
We get to the bus depot at 7:30 and don’t get picked up until 8:15 by a bus that is supposed to run every 15 minutes and we were eighth in line. We make it to Bally’s and the service and food is wonderful and still hot and fresh even though they were so close to closing time. I commend the staff at Bally’s for that as well. We decide to walk back to the Showboat not willing to risk standing in line for 45 minutes again. after a great walk down the Boardwalk we make it back to the Showboat and retire for the evening. Whew I made it through night 1 with no complaints from my wife. The next morning after breakfast my wife goes back to the room and I go to the HOB ticket booth where I am told (after waiting in line again) that I could not pick up my tickets for the show until after 3:00PM (by now I know that you are thinking the same thing I am thinking, I know this cause everyone I have told this story to is saying the same thing “Why didn’t they give you a time period yesterday?”) Calmly I go back to my room and my wife asks me about the tickets, I tell her why I don’t have them she asks (yeah you guessed it) “Why didn’t they tell you this yesterday?” I shrug my shoulders and say its okay dear I will just go back later. At 3:30 I go back to the HOB ticket booth get my tickets (HOORAY) but I am told by the attendant that the front desk has all the details on your package you purchased. Now I am just fed up with this I stomp back to the room in disgust. But it does not end but at least I know why no one had any info now because there is nothing special about this package. We get to the concert and are told by the attendant there that we don’t have seats that you will be standing the whole concert. I just felt my wife of 25 years face drop in disappointment. To my surprise she never said anything but tried to comfort me when I was telling her how sorry I was for not getting details. Here are the Details:The All Access House of Blues Show Package includes:
• An Overnight Stay, featuring either a Deluxe room or House of Blues Studio Suite (We did get the room)
• 2 General Admission Show tickets for one show (We got standing room ticket which was not advertised that way)
• Pass the line privileges (There was no line to pass. Nothing special here)
• Free Admission into the exclusive Foundation Room, night of the show. (Every body that attended the concert both with or without packages were able to be admitted. Nothing special here)
• Admission into Club Worship the night of the show (Every one in the Hotel over 21 gain free admission. Nothing special here)
What it appears is though I paid over $100 for $70 worth of ticket. Good marketing ploy though.
Well, I would love to say that that was the end of the story but it is not. The next day I went down to pay my bill. I asked if I could have my parking added to my bill, I was told that I could when I turned my keys in. I went back to the room to collect my wife and my luggage took them to the valet area where I was told that my tab with them had to be paid in cash rather then on my hotel bill. Not written anywhere, but I paid it there took my keys back to the front desk and vacated the premises. “Harrah's Entertainment is focused on building loyalty and value with its customers through a unique combination of great service, excellent products, unsurpassed distribution, operational excellence and technology leadership. We concentrate on building loyalty and value for our customers, employees, business partners, and communities by being the most service-oriented, technology-driven, geographically-diversified company in gaming.”
It appears to me that they miss the mark this time. It is unfortunate that it was at the expense of such a special event,(if only special to me) as my 25th wedding anniversary. I understand that I am on one customer, but who know who might be around to here this story even if you don’t.
