Tried this when the special rate rooms were filled at the Trop. We love the service and personable owner who truly made us welcome. We highly recommend this B & B to our friends and family and anyone who enjoys the B & B route over sterile hotels.

We could not have been happier with the price and beautifull layout of the hotel the rooms were beautifull with flat screen tv and mini bar with all your needs! Robes were also hung in the closet if needed and the bed was like a cloud!

This place was awesome. It is quaint and attractive. Older building which reminded me of growing up in NY. I was a little surprised that a B&B didn't include breakfast. But, for $8 we each had two eggs, hashbrowns, ham, two slices of toast, and a drink. Tasted really good and the folks in the pub were very pleasant. I can't really say enough about the good stuff as the whole place was just awesome. However, I will say the only things I wish were different (and one of them is probably finished) are: The water temperature in the shower was very difficult to keep at a constant temperature. It was very hot or very cold with periods of nice temperature between. Maybe the pub's water use causes these variations, I don't know. But, it doesn't cause my to not return. Also, there was construction going on right outside our window. We stayed in room 35. I think they were installing a new wooden fence. We arrived Sunday and got to bed around 2:00 or 2:30am. Work on the fence started around 7:00am Monday morning. But, getting to bed at 3:00am the next night (actually Tuseday morning) almost made us late to check out as no fence construction to wake us up. We made it in time though.

One other item that is neither negative or positive is the rooms are on the second and third floor (relative to the ground level) and there is no elevator. So, if you have difficulties climbing up or down stairs, this may not be your place.

There is a patio in front of the office lobby. Awesome to just sit and relax there. Get a drink from the pub and talk or just chill.

I would highly recommend the Chelsea and I would stay there again (when I don't get a comp room at the Tropicana).

Good Bed and Breakfast for the value!...about $60-$200 less a night than a casino hotel...very friendly people for the North...there is a very good priced pub and small restaurant below the hotel...tall drafts for $3-4 and sandwiches for $6-10 + they have pool tables and an outside patio...I mainly recommend this place for people who are not going to spend much time in their rooms! Good location - right behind the Tropicana Hotel and Casino...few extra details...beds were uncomfortable, but the TV had more channels than a regular hotel and there was free WIFI, which you have to pay about $13 a day for in a regular hotel casino.

The daytime innkeeper had a fantastic attitude, as well as the cleaning woman and the maintenance guy. We hung in the pub real late and had a great time there. Right besides the Trop which also was a real plus. Another plus was that the employees spoke English. Looking forward to going again!

The location of this hotel was amazing. It was in the perfect spot, right across the street from the Tropicana, and within walking distance of most other casinos. The staff was incredible, and when I checked out, they wanted to make sure everything was perfect, which it was. Bathrooms have been updated, and we had 4 people stay in a room with 2 double beds, and the room was huge! It had a refrigerator, a fireplace, and plenty of storage space for the suitcases, etc. The room and bed linens were both VERY clean. I will be staying here every time I come to AC. I was very impressed.

I wanted a room in Atlantic City under $300. With tax, the Saturday rate through this website was $266. For that money, I expect to at least be able to sleep through the night in a safe location. Boy, was I disappointed! Yes, the location is OK, and I realize Atlantic City is pricey on the weekends, but they couldn't find my pre-paid reservation and the check-in clerk couldn't have been less interested in helping us. The whole place felt like a youth hostel. Even in a youth hostel, you usually have somewhere to lock up your possessions. The deadbolt on my door didn't work, so I spent the whole night with a chair in front of the door (fire hazard!) The staircase was unlit, the hallway creepy and loud, and there is no phone in the room! I realize the "Inn" is in an old building, but there was at least a six inch incline in the room's floor from one side of the room to the other. You will be woken up by the sun at the crack of dawn, as the rooms do not have decent shades. Between that and the drunken revellers in the hallways, you won't get any sleep. And what is up with a "bed and breakfast" that doesn't include "breakfast"? the "Pub" looked like a gang hangout. Do NOT pay more than $30 a night for this place! YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! What a ripoff!

I found this hotel for reasonable price and booked it after read some reviews from traveladvisor.com. I didn't expect the hotel be this good.

Pros:

First of all, the location is unbelievable. It's right next to Tropicana Hotel & Casino. And don't forget the club Providence and other good clubs are in Quarter of Tropicana. And it's 2 mins walking distance (2 blks) from boardwalk. Within a block, there are Dunkin Donut and 7Eleven opens 24 hrs, so you won't have a chance to starve.

The price is unbeatable too. Even we stayed there weekday, the price is lower than other motels in Pleasantville and Absecon which is more than 10 mins driving distance.

Building is indeed old. But inside it's clean. The room we stayed was two double bed room. It wasn't that big, but it was enough to place all our luggage and relax.

The owner was very kind and let us to check-in 3 hrs prior to official check-in time which is 4 PM. She gave us two free drinks coupon which can be used in Pub, located on first floor of the building.

We checked out from the room, but needed place to store our baggage until the bus to NY comes. We asked reception and they are gladly keep our bags, so we could enjoy another 4+ hrs in Casino until we go back to home.

The room had refrigeator with 2 water bottles (Free), so we could store some drinks and food in there.

Cons:

The pub runs 24 hrs and it can be noisy to family traveler or older people, due to music from there. We didn't have a fun at pub all night, but we saw people come and go whole night. So if you want to have a fun and drinks, it probably the spot for you.

The air conditioner of the room is bit undersized, so it takes some mins to cool down the room. But once it cool down, it doesn't have any problem to make you cold.

Bathroom doesn't have ventilation fan, so the hot air and moisture from the shower stay there for some moments.

Also, there was no dryer, iron. So we had some hard time to dry our hairs.

Other thoughts:

Me and my friend had State issued ID, so we didn't have a chance to experience such racism like below one. And I don't see any discrination or rasistic practice toward us, even we are Asian.

I would definitely stay there again, since I'm young enough to enjoy the music and drink. The location and the price are excellent so I cannot pass on that.

The Inn staff was very nice, and let us see three different rooms before deciding. Some rooms are quite a bit nicer than others , so if you get a chance, definitely look at all of them before you decide. Room 32 has a bigger bed, bathroom and total room size than Room 35 and the other room we saw (I don't remember the number).

The entire building and almost everything in it are antique / old, however I would certainly disagree with claims that it was unclean or hazardous. The stairs are tiny and the bathroom floor was not flat, but it's a very nice place considering the excellent location a block from the boardwalk and less than a mile from a sizeable outlet mall .

Don't be mislead by the description that says the Inn is a "B&B". Breakfast costs about $5 and consists of eggs and meat, if you desire. There was a complimentary drink per person, from the Pub.

Unfortunately, the ID-checker refused to even spend time looking at my boyfriend's driver's license, because it's Mexican, and he wasn't allowed to enter the bar for his complimentary drink until we complained at reception. We were let in and we were given our drinks , a little while later, but the racism made us (especially my boyfriend) uncomfortable. The sign says "No County ID's, Only State ID's and US Passports", which to me means that they won't accept any international travelers... or they can just be racist and accept those they care to accept .

All in all, the Chelsea Pub and Inn is a great place to stay, I recommend it to everyone who can climb a staircase. It's in a great location .
