The room was excellent! The all-u-can eat buffet (weekday) unfortunately wasn't the greatest., October 21, 2011

Pros: The room was fantastic . . . spacious, quiet, great views, comfortable, beautiful furnishings.
Cons: The all you can eat "and get sick on" Buffet was the worst we ever had. Really got sick . . .

The rooms at The Showboat were fabulous. Lots of space, great views, clean, quiet, comfortable, beautifully decorated, elegant furniture, got a wonderful nights sleep, bathrooms had double sinks granite counter tops, too and nice gym. BUT, was totally disgusted by the highly recommended all-u-can eat buffet. We were there on a week night. The buffet had a poor selection: salad was limp of what they had, the seafood appeared to be not cooked properly (undercooked) and most of the food was past it's prime (dry). The only vegetables were collards and bokchoy. The desserts were good though, but that's not what we were there for. Was in and out of the bathroom all night. Hopefully the selection and quality on the weekend for the seafood buffet is better. We totally recommend the buffet at the Resorts and Ballys Virginia City . . .

Accommodations: GREAT! . . . Food: NOT!

This hotel is located about a mile from the center of the Boardwalk, which caused us to walk about 3 to 4 miles a day which was great, not only for health reasons but for that Atlantic City Boardwalk experience. They let us check in at very early at 12:00 noon and gave us the room we wanted, a king size bed with a view. The view from the 20th floor was spectacular!

All in all, not too bad for the money, but I expected a little bit better considering the chain they are part of. Took 40 minutes to get checked in. Limited amount of tables, quite a few "out of order machines", limited food and shopping options. Room had a lot of dust/dirt on AC vent, garbage behind dressers/tables. If you just need a decent place to stay, close to the beach/boardwalk...this is it. If you expect a clean room, tons of shopping and food options, this is not the place to be.

Checkin was simple and friendly. We needed more towels and a hairdryer and the housekeeping staff was prompt. Baggage handling was friendly and prompt. Restaurants, bars, casino, and gift shop were clean. Nice sized room.

The standard room at the hotel was very nice, but the view was awful and the bathroom tub kept filling up. Overall the experience was great. The seafood buffet was excellent. The service at the buffet was wonderful. The front desk attendant wasn't very polite.

Pros: The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are large and comfortable. And there's a lot of action.

The hotel is really nice and some areas are gorgeous. The problem is that you can't say that about the whole hotel. They really need to pay attention to that aspect. In addition, regarding food; the buffet is an arm & a leg for below quality food ($35 per person); and it really wasn't that good. However, the room service was fabulous and it ended up being cheaper.

I must add that customer service was extremely pleasant. We moved to another room (we stayed 2 nights), because of the noise and they upgraded us b/c of the discomfort from the night before. That was appreciated!!

In the end, there are a few things that needs to be done, but I would recommend this hotel if you're trying to be economical.

Rooms are very nice and contemporary. Only thing I did not like was the view (or lack of.....). I got a deluxe room with a king size bed. They put us on the 2nd floor with a view of a parking garage. But I know we could have requested another room, how often are you actually in your room anyway?

Overall I'd say I had a good experience at the Showboat. Checkin was very fast and easy. The Casino was nice. The room was a little old school. It look like it needed newer furniture, but I was there with a few friends so it worked out ok for us. I didn't like that the shower had low water pressure. The cleaning staff was very nice and friendly. There was a lot of stuff to do in the hotel. The buffet was decent and we got a free total rewards card for the shot machines. Also, there was a really good live band. So overall, I'd say it was a good place to stay. But the room was overpriced. $500 for the weekend. I had a great time there, but I don't think it's a place I'd pay $500 for again.

We had a very nice time.. We got a deal and our room was $72 which included taxes and it included 2 free buffet tickets which was the crabfest. We had a very nice time.. The people in the casino are very nice and helpful. Johnny rockets for breakfast which was VERY good. Also the bars have cheap beers & drinks all day long.

I went for Thanks giving holiday and it was a pleasure staying at Showboat. The room was clean and well maintained.I got a sea view room. The bath and bed were clean. I would like to go there again. Except for its location, I loved showboat.
