Great Vacation, August 23, 2008

Pros: I love the location of this hotel. Close to everything that is going on.
Cons: The wait for the elevators. Everyday at approx. 4 pm the line for the elevators was horrible.

I love staying at this hotel. My room is always a great deal. I can honestly say that the beds are comfortable and so are the pillows. The restaurants, especially PF Changs is a family favorite. My family enjoyed this vacation greatly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, especially because it is kid friendly.

Beautiful hotel. Great Location - right on the Boardwalk. The Quarter is great - all the restaurants, bars and shops. The Registration was a bit confusing. We used the valet parking and it was great. We took the car in and out several times. The pools were very crowded and a little small.

Overall it was a good place to stay. We had the longest line I ever seen to checkin- then we had to keep calling a # the hotel gave us to find out if the room had been cleaned yet , so that we could receive the keys. After 21/2 hours of waiting they finally just issued us a new room. Room was very nice and clean, stayed in the Havana tower. Beds were not very comfortable. Comedy show was great.

the Havana rooms are not better then the regular rooms, you only pay more for the same room, I would come back to tropicana, its a nice hotel with a lots to offer but i will not book the havana room, waste of money, you better of with a regular room at any other towers there for a lot cheaper

We wanted something better and payed for the havana tower, but the rooms are not different then the regular rooms at other towers, very dissapointed

The staff at the Tropicana is very friendly and helpful, and it's a good thing they are because they probably get a lot of questions and have to solve a lot of poblems.

Upon arriving at the check-in counter, we were greeted by a very nice young lady. However, I don't know why I had to reserve our rooms as I had to go through the same process after I arrived. It was obvious that our particular rooms were not chosen until our arrival. This caused a problem for the 4 people who stayed in one room as there were not enough towels for them. However, it did not take long at all for the additional towels to be delivered once a call was made.

Also, the amount of people who had to carry their luggage through the casino was ridiculous. The elevators were also a problem. Some people refused to use ione for fear of getting stuck. Although, I didn't get stuck at all, that elevator stopped, opened the door to let us out, then immediately shut the door (before anyone had time to get out) and took off again. At check-out time, we waited 25 minutes to get an elevator before we decided to carry our luggage down the steps from what was labeled floor 35. Many other people had to do the same. The room that my wife and I stayed in was clean, but the bed was somewhat uncomfortable. However, I find that this is not all that unusual for a hotel/motel bed. I can't say I had a terrible time at the Trop or even that I will not stay there again, but I am put off enough by this experience (my second time staying at the Trop) to try another Hotel/Casino on my next trip to Atlantic City. :glare:

The Casino and the Quarter have a lot to offer but the room conditions leave a lot to be desired. After spending a few hours in the casino, I came up to my room and went to turn down my bed only to find someone elses black hairs on the pillows on my bed. I immediately called the front desk (1am) and they said they would send someone up immediately to re-do the entire bed. 1 hour later and after several more phone calls, still nothing. Finally, the front desk offered to switch rooms and upgraded me. They upgraded me from the Havana tower to the North Tower. The room I received was a two-story room. It had a huge living room, bathroom, and sitting room on the first floor with a big two story window wall with a side view of the ocean and then the second floor had a king size bed and a large bathroom with a 5 person jacuzzi tub. They also extended my checkout to 1pm. Overall I do not expect to go back to this casino anytime soon. I usually stay at the Borgata but I found a great rate at the Tropicana so I decided to try it. Now I know why the Brogata costs more, the quality of the rooms is unbelievable and the cleanliness of the Borgata is unsurpassed. On a side note, I had been to the Tropicana a few years ago for a friends bachelor party and had a great time because there were so many restaurants, bars, and clubs to go to in the Quarter.

Overall a pleasant experience. We would definitely stay there again, but I might bring my own comfortable sheet to put on the bed. I can live with the low water pressure. Hotel staff friendly, dealers and pit bosses in casino very friendly which was great. Choices to eat varied from inexpensive to expensive so you can eat within your own budget. We had a fun time, just wish we came home with money in our pocket!

We enjoyed the location of the hotel, right on the boardwalk and the outside pool area is awesome. The lack of staff willing to help you find your way was dissapointing. However after walking around for about an hour you can find your way. The Casino was nice and fun! the dealers for the most part were enjoyable while playing. The room was comfortable however stay away from the west wing. Long waits at the evelvator, walls are super thin you can hear everything and party in the hall ways seems to be okay to do. I had little sleep the last night there. Very dissapointed. Also stay away from the Comedy Club, by far the worst show and professional staff I have ever encountered. It started off being second in line and being told it was open seating to the manager letting nearly 50 people in ahead of us and seating was assigned. The manager was both rude and the staff were experts at lying. The waitress staff was excellent however. Finally our trip ended with my truck showing up at the door (vallet) with dents in the side. The employee responsible came right away and explained to me what happen, the manager for the vallet service was also very professional. They immediately took pictures and filled out the accident form. I am told that in a few days the hotel will contact me and take care of the situation. Out of all the people I encountered working at the hotel I believe these folks. Very professional with the whole situation. Overall we did have a wonderful time at the tropicana, just stay away from the west tower. Oh yeah the Best Dam Sports Bar is awesome!

Not disatisfied just disappointed. Paid lots of money. Promotions did not tell me how to use comp card. Paid for meals because I did not know that I could use it at the restaurants (All $115 of it). I live really far away so will not be back in time to use those points. Should make exceptions for military, i.e. extension of comp points and discounts. Promised free parking, but cost $5. Checked in with some package and got nothing special other than a coupon for $10. The room was okay just getting to it was the problem. The elevators in the West Tower are not adequate on the weekends. I waited 30 minutes to go down due to overcrowded elevators. Would have took the stairs but had my luggage in hand. No coffee pot in room. you would think for over $300 you could get a cup of coffee in the morning without going to the casino. The staff was really nice and there were plenty of waitresses to bring drinks. Bed was pretty comfortable although there was no control for AC. You got what you got. I would stay again but only with some special offer or reduced price.
