I really liked this B&B. It was really comfy and the staff was great. It's right next to the tropicana so getting to the casinos was easy. You get two free drinks from the bar and breakfast every morning with your stay. It's nice to leave your hotel room without hearing all of the music and noise from the casino floor, especially when you've lost lol.

This is a good place to go if you just want to play in AC and have a place to crash. Much less expensive than the casino hotels and only 2 blocks off the boardwalk. The room was clean but very small. We were just in town for one night and this place was just fine for what we needed. I would certainly recommend this place to any one that just needs to crash at the end of a long night in AC.

Overall, this hotel served as a nice place to stay for one night. If you just want a decent place to spend the night at a reasonable price, this is a safe bet. The free parking, continental breakfast, and complimentary drink were all nice perks. During breakfast, though, I opened one of the breakfast sandwiches and it was green and moldy. The did have other choices, so it wasn't the end of the world. If I needed another cheap place to stay in AC, I'd go back to the Chelsea Inn and Pub.

I Stayed On: December 31, 2009    I stayed here because: The casinos were booked.
Would I recommend it? Most Likely    My visit was for: Leisure    My Age is: 50+

The room was very nice, well kept, clean and comfortable. Our room was quite noisy from the bar below, but it was during the New Year's Celebration. Night two's silence was broken by some type of alarm that appeared to be coming from the Tropicana's (directly across the street) parking garage from 10:30 PM until 1:00 AM. There is a certain charm in uneven floors and doors with 3 inch gaps around them throughout the building. The bathroom provided a stubborn flushing toilet and very small shower. The towel service and bed comfort were very good. The wood floors are finished nicely, and the decor quaint. Morning brunch was served in a dining area of the B&B, and was excellent. The second day, neither coffee nor breakfast/brunch was available when we headed out for the day, after 9:00 AM. (make that coffee pot out earlier, folks!). We stopped in the restaurant on day 3, which is a dark area between dark pool table rooms and a bar that is just as dark. We didn't notice any other customers, aside a couple of characters at the bar. The smell of pine cleaner at 2:00 PM was enough to entice us to find another place to eat. The B&B is just south of the Tropicana. It would be a good summer stay, because it allows you to walk a block to the beach and head south, to get a little isolation from the casino madness. If you choose to head north, you're immediately in Casino-ville. All in all, be prepared for a 1920-30's kind of adventure. You will deal with things of that era, both good and not-so good. I'd consider a stay at Chelsea B&B again, but only if I couldn't get a casino-comped room. It's hard to compete with a "free" place to stay.

The Chelsea Inn and Pub is a nice alternative to the overpriced casino resort hotels - it has clean rooms, a good quality breakfast and a good location only two blocks from the Tropicana Casino and the Boardwalk. The 24 hour pub might also be a nice feature especially for the younger crowd - and bartender Amy is hot! LOL and bartender Mike apparently makes awesome shots (so my 23/24 year olds tell me - I stuck to beer) And the drink prices are also a welcome change to the highway robbery of the casino bars. Of course if you enjoy the comforts of the modern hotel you might be less than impressed with the smaller rooms (bathroom was tiny), hard mattresses, and inability to make the rooms dark at night. Sleep was very hard for me during our stay - with light shining in the rooms and the near constant din of car alarms, sirens, racing engines, and partying folks combined with the hard mattress I only managed a couple hours sleep all weekend.

All in all, it is a great alternative to paying the unreasonable prices at the casino with nice clean rooms. Seems like a great option for the younger crowd that might have more limited funds but appears to attract the older set as well - maybe for the same reasons.

Tried this when the special rate rooms were filled at the Trop. We love the service and personable owner who truly made us welcome. We highly recommend this B & B to our friends and family and anyone who enjoys the B & B route over sterile hotels.

We could not have been happier with the price and beautifull layout of the hotel the rooms were beautifull with flat screen tv and mini bar with all your needs! Robes were also hung in the closet if needed and the bed was like a cloud!

This place was awesome. It is quaint and attractive. Older building which reminded me of growing up in NY. I was a little surprised that a B&B didn't include breakfast. But, for $8 we each had two eggs, hashbrowns, ham, two slices of toast, and a drink. Tasted really good and the folks in the pub were very pleasant. I can't really say enough about the good stuff as the whole place was just awesome. However, I will say the only things I wish were different (and one of them is probably finished) are: The water temperature in the shower was very difficult to keep at a constant temperature. It was very hot or very cold with periods of nice temperature between. Maybe the pub's water use causes these variations, I don't know. But, it doesn't cause my to not return. Also, there was construction going on right outside our window. We stayed in room 35. I think they were installing a new wooden fence. We arrived Sunday and got to bed around 2:00 or 2:30am. Work on the fence started around 7:00am Monday morning. But, getting to bed at 3:00am the next night (actually Tuseday morning) almost made us late to check out as no fence construction to wake us up. We made it in time though.

One other item that is neither negative or positive is the rooms are on the second and third floor (relative to the ground level) and there is no elevator. So, if you have difficulties climbing up or down stairs, this may not be your place.

There is a patio in front of the office lobby. Awesome to just sit and relax there. Get a drink from the pub and talk or just chill.

I would highly recommend the Chelsea and I would stay there again (when I don't get a comp room at the Tropicana).

Good Bed and Breakfast for the value!...about $60-$200 less a night than a casino hotel...very friendly people for the North...there is a very good priced pub and small restaurant below the hotel...tall drafts for $3-4 and sandwiches for $6-10 + they have pool tables and an outside patio...I mainly recommend this place for people who are not going to spend much time in their rooms! Good location - right behind the Tropicana Hotel and Casino...few extra details...beds were uncomfortable, but the TV had more channels than a regular hotel and there was free WIFI, which you have to pay about $13 a day for in a regular hotel casino.
